Spring is just around the corner, which means the time is drawing near to wake your tractors out of hibernation and start preparing the farm for planting season. Ensuring your tractor gets proper maintenance will provide you with better performance during the season and help extend its useful life.

Make sure your tractor is primed for work with this 8 point checklist:

  • Check the engine oil and coolant, diesel fuel, hydraulic and front axle fluids.
  • Check all of the filters and replace them as needed.
  • Check all hoses, fittings and seals and make sure they are in good condition to prevent leaks or ruptures.
  • Make sure wheels, tires and wheel bearings are ready for road travel and properly inflated. Consult your tractor’s operator manual for the correct pressure.

  • Check the battery for corrosion and clean it. Replace battery or components as needed.
  • Check all electrical functions such as lights, turn signals and hazard flashers.
  • Check all hardware for loose or missing pieces. Tighten or replace as needed.
  • Consult the owner’s manual for any additional recommended services.
